June 21st means it is OFFICIALLY SUMMER, though those high temps we’ve been having sure make it seem like summer has been here for a while! Here are some summer tips to keep you safe and ready for fun!
- Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! It is soooooo easy to get dehydrated here in the desert during the summer months, so be sure to never leave home without water! Investing in something like a Hydroflask that keeps your water cool for long periods of time is a great idea! And remember to constantly be drinking water, don’t just wait until you feel thirsty. If you wait until you feel thirsty, you are already on your way to dehydration!
- Wear sunscreen! Protect that beautiful skin of yours by always applying sunscreen, especially when partaking in any outdoor activity. It is a great habit to get into to wear sunscreen daily, especially on your face, even when you don’t know if your day will lead you outdoors. So look for a daily moisturizer that has a built in SPF. Your skin will thank you!
- Be mindful of the time of day you are outdoors! Want to take a jog? Go for a hike? Take laps in the pool? Try to plan those outdoor activities when the sun is not at its peak (and better to bake you!). Wake up early for that jog before the heat sets in. Take an evening hike when the sun is starting to set. Plan your laps when the pool gets the most shade during the day. Limiting your direct exposure to the highest heat and sunlight of the day will keep you safe!
